Accurate reproduction of Scone Memorial Airport, including the new Hunter Warbirds facility and upgraded apron
Welcome to Scone Memorial Airport, located in the beautiful Upper Hunter region of NSW and just a short trip north west of Newcastle!
Arguably the spiritual home of warbird aviation in Australia, with Pay's Air Service having close to 60 years of experience in the restoration of vintage warbird aircraft, most notably in the restoration of 3 Spitfires, including the first one to fly in Australia post-war in 1985 (and with 3 more in the works). Pay's Air Service has also built up significant expertise in the realm of aerial application and aerial firefighting, with a fleet of Air Tractor Fire Boss firebombers available to assist in fighting of bushfires.
Since 2022, Scone has cemented its place in landscape of global warbird aviation with the opening of Hunter Warbirds, home not only to the Pay's collection of aircraft but those of Paul Bennet Airshows, Hunter Fighter Collection, Danger Close Aviation and many other privately owned warbird aircraft. With just over 30 aircraft considered part of the collection, Hunter Warbirds is now home to one of the finest collections of flying aircraft in the world, with the likes of two airworthy Spitfires (including Australia's first two-seat Tr 9), two airworthy Mustangs, a flying Kittyhawk and PC-9/A, the only flying Avenger, Vampire and Sea Fury in Australia, and the only airworthy Vought-built F4U-1D in the world amongst many more. With the growth of this collection has come the continual expansion of the biannual Warbirds Over Scone, as of 2026 now the largest warbirds-focused airshow in the Southern Hemisphere.
Also home to a range of other businesses such as Blackedge Aviation, Airspeed Aviation, SuperAir and East Coast Aircraft Maintenance; as well as the long-standing home of Scone Aero Club. As part of the construction of the Hunter Warbirds museum, the airport also greatly benefitted a significant upgrade program that has seen the construction of new taxiways, a new fuel station and a significantly expanded parking apron able to accommodate aircraft as large as the Dassault Falcon 7x, Gulfstream IV and even 3 Transall C-160s. Ongoing construction in support of the Hunter Warbirds museum will see a second hangar completed by the end of 2026 to house non-airworthy display aircraft from Hunter Fighter Collection.
This scenery provides an authentic update and reproduction of this fantastic location in MSFS 2024. Utilising stock assets (including from WU22 and earlier), it has accurately placed buildings and markings as close in representation to the real deal as possible (given the limitations). The CTAF frequency has also been updated to 128.0.
