Fokker DR.1

The Fokker Dr.1 is an iconic First World War triplane renowned for its distinctive three-wing design, exceptional maneuverability, and unmistakable silhouette. Lightweight construction and responsive controls make it highly agile at lower speeds, rewarding careful energy management and precise handling. Whether flying close formation, exploring the countryside, or recreating the atmosphere of early aviation, the Fokker Dr.1 delivers a unique and engaging vintage flying experience.

About the Fokker Dr.I

The Dr.I entered service with German fighter units in 1917, and around 320 were built. It is remembered for the three stacked wings, which gave it a very tight turning circle, and for its link with Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, who was flying one when he was killed in 1918. A small rotary engine up front and a very light structure mean it flies slowly and feels lively in the air, but it is not an aircraft for fast, high energy manoeuvres.

Flying and installing

Keep your speed up in turns, watch your rudder in the climb, and plan landings with plenty of room, as with most tailwheel warbirds. To install it, copy the package into your Community folder; the guide to installing MSFS 2024 aircraft covers the steps, and the Hangar Addons Manager can do it for you. More aircraft of this type are on the Fokker Dr.I Triplane page.
