SimWorks Studios has shared another development update for its upcoming Classic 8 Series for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, giving us a closer look at the progress being made on the popular regional turboprop.

The project includes three variants of the Dash 8: the Q100, Q200, and Q300. Each aircraft will be available separately, with bundles planned for those interested in purchasing multiple variants.

The Q100 is expected to arrive first, followed by the Q200 and Q300.

A Focus on Realism

One of the more interesting aspects of this project is the amount of attention being given to aircraft systems.

SimWorks Studios is working with real pilots and mechanics to accurately recreate the Dash 8. The electrical system alone features more than 300 circuits and 70 electrical buses, while the engines are being developed with custom simulation logic rather than relying entirely on the default systems in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The team is also developing custom propeller beta range behavior, with plans to bring some of these improvements to its existing PC-12 and Kodiak aircraft.

Aircraft Details and Visual Improvements

The Classic 8 Series will feature detailed cockpit and cabin configurations, along with liveries representing operators from the 1980s through today.

Additional details include dynamic cockpit elements, progressive weathering effects, and improvements designed to take advantage of MSFS 2024.

Performance is also a priority, with the developer aiming to make the aircraft accessible to a wide range of hardware configurations.

What Comes Next?

There is currently no confirmed release date or pricing for the Classic 8 Series.

SimWorks Studios plans to share another development update toward the end of November, including a closer look at the exterior model.

It is great to see another classic regional aircraft being developed for MSFS 2024, especially with this level of attention to detail. I am certainly looking forward to seeing how the project progresses.
