As Hangar Addons grows, there will eventually come a point where I can't do everything myself. When that time comes, I'd like to build a group of community volunteers who would enjoy helping out and being part of what we're building.
I'm not looking for people to commit to a schedule or treat this like a job. Quite the opposite.
The idea is to have a handful of people who can help out when they have the time and feel like contributing. Some weeks that might mean doing a little, and other weeks you might not do anything at all. That's completely fine.
Some of the things I'd eventually love to have community members help with include:
- 📰 Posting and managing news: Finding interesting flight sim news and helping keep the community informed.
- 📦 Approving addons: Reviewing submitted addons to make sure they meet the site's requirements and are ready to be published.
- 💬 Moderating forums and comments: Helping keep discussions friendly, constructive, and welcoming.
- 🛠️ Helping other members: Answering questions and helping new members get familiar with the site.
- 💡 Helping shape the community: Sharing ideas and feedback about features, policies, and where Hangar Addons should go next.
You wouldn't necessarily have to do all of these. If you're someone who enjoys finding news, that's great. If you'd rather review addons, help moderate discussions, or simply help other members, that's great too.
Why Volunteers?
One of the things I want to avoid is Hangar Addons becoming a place where everything is dictated from the top down.
This is supposed to be a community, and I'd like the people who use it to have a genuine opportunity to help shape it.
I'd rather have a small group of people who actually enjoy being involved than a large team of moderators who feel like they're obligated to be here.
There will be no expectation that you spend a certain amount of time here. Real life comes first. If you have a busy week, month, or even longer, that's perfectly okay.
So... Would You Be Interested?
There's no commitment or application process right now. I'm simply curious whether this is something people in the community would eventually be interested in.
If you'd enjoy helping out when the need arises, let me know by replying to this topic. You can also tell me what kind of things you'd be most interested in helping with.
And if you have ideas for other ways you'd like to contribute that I haven't mentioned, I'd love to hear those too.
Hangar Addons is still just getting started, and I'm excited to see where we can take it together.
